October 2015 Warm-Up Post

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I moved to Japan in March, so I'm in Japan now! It'll be weird having read-a-thon mostly on Sunday this year instead of Saturday.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
Maybe the new World Trigger release? I have a wide variety of both English and Japanese books this year, most of which are digital due to my international move. I've got manga, novels, visual novel, audiobooks...

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
All of them! Though I did buy a maple roll from the local bakery today for tomorrow's breakfast... I'm excited to start the day with that!

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
Hello! I'm Elisabeth. I'm currently an Assistant Language Teacher of English in Iwate, Japan. I love stories, and I hope to someday work with Japanese media in the U.S. This year I'm working toward entering grad school, and I'm going to participate in NaNoWriMo for the first time ever! It's a good year of firsts.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
I didn't participate in the last read-a-thon, sadly, as I was busy getting used to Japan life. But I have participated in several in the past, and it's always been a blast!

This year, I'm going to be a bit more of a casual participant. Since my time zone change means read-a-thon is mostly on Sunday, I won't be able to do quite the whole 24 hours without messing up my sleep schedule too much for the next work week. I'll also have church in the middle, so I'll have to take a break for that, too (though I do get some scripture reading done there).

I'll start off with a few hours of read-a-thon, sleep for a bit, and then read until 9pm on Sunday, which is when it ends! I also have some artwork things I need to work on, so I'll be using audiobooks to read and work at the same time. I'll also be cheering over on Twitter! Should be a fun experience no matter what.

Can't wait to get started! Now, time to go pick up dinner...

Wow, it must be so interesting to be living and working in Japan. I've always wanted to visit the country because the culture and history are so fascinating. A Tale for the Time Being one of the books I'm reading fot the readathon has two Japanese narrators.

Japan is indeed lovely! It's sometimes hard to work through language barriers, but it's always rewarding! And I'm super excited to try NaNo!
